SPECIAL SELECTION FROM THE TRAILER VAULT

Cast: Dorothy Lamour, Jon Hall, Mary Astor, Raymond Massey
Running Time: 3 mins.
Vault: TRAILERS

A stunning big blowout; this South Seas spectacular from the great John Ford is a rare perennial. The story is pretty much hooey with a dollop of tropical glamour on top, but anyway, marvelously self-serving. The beauteous Lamour is in love with barrel-chested Hall, whose hot temper lands him in hot water with corrupt island governor Massey. Then the hurricane comes--a real lulu--and steals everyone's thunder. These scenes are terrifyingly spectacular, done on actual and miniature scales so cleverly edited that it is next to impossible to discern where one leaves off and the other takes over.

 IN THE SPOTLIGHT

CREATURE FROM THE HAUNTED SEA
This early bit of "B"-movie fluff from Roger Corman and company is a hastily slapped-together melange of crime thriller and monster flick, laced with enough ham-fisted satire to make the entire mess enjoyable.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND
Lewis Carroll's classic tale of an imaginative girl in 19th century England got an all-star treatment in Paramount's 1933 version of Alice in Wonderland -- The movie actually combined two Carroll novels, Alice in Wonderland and its sequel, Through the Looking Glass.

FLASH GORDON: THE BREATH OF DEATH
Flash Gordon is assigned to escort Dale Arden on a vital mission to the desolate prison planet Gemini, the last resort for incurable criminals.

ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS: THE CHENEY VASE
Recently discharged museum curator Lyle Endicott (Darren McGavin) uses a forged letter to gain entry to the home of elderly recluse Martha Cheney (played by Patricia Collinge, who had been prominently featured in Alfred Hitchcock's 1943 movie classic Shadow of a Doubt).

FLIP THE FROG: MOVIE MAD
Visually great with a magnificent imitation of Charlie Chaplin and a few good sight gags (mostly chases).
